It is gonna be 67 today!!!

Waaaaaaaaaaaahooooooooooooooooo! I LOVE good weather!!

Some very good news is that there is superior talent here in Utah. We went to see The Phantom last night at the Hale Theater in SLC. The talent was over the top! I mean, I am a Kristen Chenoweth fan to the Nth degree, so I know good vocals when I hear 'em (sounds uppity, but it is true), and may I just say that the voices last night were absolutely on par with anything I have ever heard on Broadway... or in London, for that matter! From the moment those actors started singing, I was in awe.

There is really no way to let the written word do justice to the performance. It was WONDERFUL!!! So glad I went. Thanks Mom and Dad!!

POPCORN

First of all - there has been many a note-worthy piece of "good news" floating around as of late, but I have not felt the "writing" bug, so I haven't posted any of it. Go figure...

BUT, today's good news is that day-old popcorn is still just as delicious as when it was fresh, and is even BETTER (texture-wise) !! Who knew??

The other piece of good news is that I went to Wal-mart last night, and ended up coming out with NOTHING! Reason being, I have absolutely NO room in my freezer (either one) for anything at all! I saw some really good coupon deals, but I couldn't do them. I mean, it is bad news for my addiction, but good news for my brain. It definitely means that when the kids say "There isn't anything to eat here!" I can just roll my eyes and not feel guilty.

Guilt-free is ALWAYS good news!

Generic!

Wahoo! Best news in a LONG time is that Adderall now comes in generic form. I was going to fill a 30 day RX yesterday, and was planning on paying $457, when the pharm tech said to me "Would you like generic? It will cost $34." I did a major happy dance and sang "YEEEEEEEEEES!!"

Being frugal is hard work - but it is infinitely more simple when I am able to keep my mind on the task at hand! I worked on coupons yesterday for about 3 hours, then went to Wally's and spent $37 on a $172-before-coupons bill. WOOTY WOOT!!!

I heart Albies!

Ok, I just SCORED at Albertsons!!

I got:
8 bottles of TreeTop fruit juice
3 McCormick seasonings (cumin, cinnamon, and garlic salt)
4 Kraft cheeses (2 bricks, 2 bags of shredded)
2 Oscar Meyer sandwich deli meats (sliced turkey)
4 regular size Oreo cookie packs
10 packs of Wrigley gum
5 large cans of RAID

ALL for $15 WOOT WOOT!!!

Soundness

Well, Obama says that despite the mess we are in economically, the fundamentals are sound. That is good news, and I have to agree with him. 'Course fundamentals for me end up being coupons, Walgreens, Albertsons, and Target.

Yesterday two of my sound fundamentals (coupons and Wags) helped me get 10 bottles of Garnier Fructis hair product, 5 Gillette Fusion "Gamer"razors, 3 Gillette dandruff shampoos, 4 Hershey's chocolate bars, 8 12-packs of Coke products all for $25.

Another one helped me get 12 bags of Oreos, 10 boxes of Nabisco Cakesters, 10 boxes of wheat thins/triscuits, 4 bricks of cheese, 9 Crystal Lights (dry mix with 6 2-quart tubs in each), 20 boxes of General Mills cereal, and 2 boxes of Bagelfuls for $30.

Ya, ya, ya... I know it is a LOT of carbs, but sheesh, the healthy stuff costs much more! If I play my cards right, buying the "fun stuff" pays for the "healthy stuff" - catalinas are awesome! :O)

Ahhhh... Youtube is just plain old WONDERFUL news! I love music, and to be able to hear it anytime I want/need to, is... well, perfect. I've got Eva Cassidy playing as I write. She and Nora are two of my all-time favs when it comes to female singers.

The good news is that we can sing anywhere, any time, for any reason! Freedom of voice.

Taxes..

Taxes are good news... aren't they? Ok, they are no fun to pay, but they are sure fun to get back! WOOT WOOT! My kids are actually getting money back this year, and that is GOOD NEWS to me - it just means that they will ask me for that much LESS money! LOL

In this economy, paying taxes ended up being a darn good savings plan. We didn't lose a thing by letting the government keep our money for a few months... had we invested it in the stock market it would be gone. Yahoo for Big Brother!! :o)

One less...

Hey, the good news of the day is that Clint has moved back in with his family. While this could be construed as both bad and good news (bad, in that he has moved OUT of our home), it is good news all around. Kids need their OWN mom and dad - and generally, parents are better with their OWN kids. We have all learned a lot by having him live here - believe me, I will be much less judgmental of parenting styles (which is something I tend to "learn" each time a teen comes to live with me).

For me, having a foster child is like playing golf. I'm good at it and enjoy it for about 5 holes... then I poop out and want to sit in the cart until the end. Gotta remember that!

Friday is always good news, isn't it? Thoughts of "quickie Home Depot runs" frolic through my mind - especially the idea of "spending more than $250 and getting 0% interest for 12 months" - ya, right. Seriously though, I think it is good news that the kids are out of school for the next two days and will be available to help with the Spring Cleaning. The garage is calling my name...

Taco Tuesday!!

The basic good news for EVERY Tuesday is that tacos are cheap on a day like today. Yep, Del Taco has tacos for .39 each on Tuesdays - which is relatively cheap for a package of food that contains all of the food groups! I figure for $3.90, I can get 10 tacos, and basically fill up the kids... for 2 hours. If we pick up a couple packs of SCORCHER hot sauce at the same time, I might be able to keep them full for 3 hours.

Any day I do NOT have to cook is a GOOD NEWS day! :O)

Dessert just off the kitchen...

Well the good news is that I am DONE! Meaning, of course, that the office is finished being painted. Yep, it is a nice chocolate brown... and when I say chocolate, I mean chocolate. Max and his friends are dying to lick the walls - just to see if they taste as good as they look. Here is hoping we can all go in there, think, and accomplish "heady" tasks without dreaming of banana splits and hot fudge sundaes. Perhaps that particular color of paint was not such a great choice... weight-wise.

Relating

Not that there was no good news to report yesterday... um... I just totally skipped it. I mean, in some odd way, THAT in and of itself is good news. That means that the day went by with me being busy enough to actually forget to check every single site on the internet. (...and ya, some days I do exactly that! LOL)

But.... in some other odd way, it is very disconcerting that I managed to forget to post. Does that mean Alzheimers is setting in? Would THAT be good news? For my kids, yes it would be. If I could no longer remember my lengthy list of "family guidelines" they would be thrilled. (actually, I can't remember them on most days, so not a whole lot would change).

The real good news for today though, is that my teenage boys got a HUGE kick out of reading my journals from when I was their age. They laughed and laughed and read the entries out loud to each other. It was a hoot! I'm so glad I wrote so much back then.

Isn't that good news? I mean, when our kids can relate to us and laugh at/with us.. isn't that GREAT news?? I think so. :O)

Almost over (February...)

Hey! Today's good news is that it is going to be MARCH on Sunday! WOOT WOOT!!! Who can NOT be happy about hearing that?

Mr. Tree, in my bedroom (and yes, he is real), is even happy about it. He has bloomed in TWO different colors. He has pink flowers AND white flowers. Oh, gotta love a hybrid - and who knew???

The sorta good news for the day is that I am subbing for a 1st grade class of 32 children. Not really sure for whom the "sorta" exists... we'll see after I get there.

WHAT THE????

Oh... oh yes... a little info might be in order. Ok, well see, I was just checking the KSL.com website (which I do all of the time, cuz that is just how I am), and I noticed that there was really no good news at all on there. I thought to myself that they should have at least one link that would supply "good news", and then I thought I should just do it myself. So... that is where this blog idea came from.

So, from now on, I am going to update my "igotgoodnews" blog (yes, I realize it is not grammatically correct... eeek!) daily with GOOD NEWS! Go figure. :O)

Good News!

Today's good news is: it is going to be in the 50s for the next three days!! WOOT WOOT!

Maggie asks me to check the weather at least a couple of times each day, and just now I noticed (yes, I have started checking the weather even when she is not here!) that things are looking very SPRINGY weather-wise.

So there you have it. The good news for the day.
